   We will also explore how all of the applications you learn in this   class can be used by both you, the teacher (teacher centered   activities) as well as your students (student centered activities.)

      C. Reading and Email Assignment:  "Benefits of Technology in    Education"   Using this reading 
      as a reference,  pick the one "most  appropriate" benefit you see for using technology in your future
      classroom. This should be a benefit for your students.  Email me   today with an explanation 
      and justification for your choice.


5. January 23, 2001 - Tuesday

      ïReview FILE MANAGEMENT
      A. Introduction to the Internet
      B. Search engines and how to use them
      C. Begin surfing (Scavenger hunt, ERIC searching, etc.)
      D. Reading and Email Assignment:  "Ethics on the Internet"    by Michael Covington - Read and 
     email me your reaction.  It should   address all of the major topics Dr. Covington discusses.  Areas 
     you might discuss include:  Do you agree with him?  What did you learn that you did not know 
     before? What is the most important area he   covers?  This response should be at least two 
      paragraphs in length.
     NOTE:  If you should finish both of these assignments before they are  scheduled to be turned in, you 
    are still expected to come to class.  I will  have some secondary assignments for you to complete that 
     will give you the opportunity to explore the Internet more.


6. January 25, 2001 - Thursday

      A. Continue working on Web assignment and word processing assignment
       NOTE:  These assignments are due at the end of class on February 6, 2001.


7. January 30, 2001 - Tuesday

    A. Work on word processing assignment and Web Assignment
    NOTE:  See what we are doing in class tomorrow.  Make sure you find  your favorite 
    "educational" Internet site so you can share it with the  class  tomorrow.


8. February 1, 2001 - Thursday

    A. Class meeting (Probably in Room 601) to reflect on what we have done so far and for you to share 
    your favorite Web site.
    B. Work on word processing and Web Assignments
    C. Reading and Email Assignment:  Read and memorize the "Six Stages for Learning the 
    Use of Technology."
    Email me two reasons why you think I had you read this paper?


9. February 6, 2001 - Tuesday

    A. Work on assignments (Word Processing and WEB)
    B. Turn in Web Assignments and Word Processing Assignments by the end of your class period today.
    C. Reading and Email Assignment:  Read "Graphic Design    Principles and Technique" and email me the 
    design element that you   think is most important when developing your title page for your   Internet site. 
    Explain in detail, why you think this is the most    important design element.
    D. Begin gathering pictures that you might want to use on your    Internet site


10. February 8, 2001 - Thursday

    A. Class meeting (Probably in Room 601) to reflect on your web searching experience, 
    word processing experience, graphic design   article and to discuss other issues that have developed 
     in class to date.
    B. Discussion on developing your own Internet site
    C. Show some sites developed by students
    D. Show what is expected
    E. Explore other student's Internet sites
    F. Make sure you bring pictures on Wednesday


11. February 13, 2001 - Tuesday

    A. Scanning (Demonstration and Discussion)

   NOTE:  In class, on February 27 your classmates will be evaluating your  Internet site.  That gives you 
   today and (3) additional class days to work on this.  You will  probably need additional time, outside of 
   class to work on this.  Plan accordingly.

    discuss other issues that have developed   in class to date.

    E. Email Assignment:   Email me the one most creative ways you   might use a draw program 
     in your classroom.

  NOTE:  If you "think" you have finished, go in and explore draw  more.  Make improvements on your 
   product.    Show it to me and I'll  give you some ideas as to what you might do if you can't come up with 
   any.  Use this time to learn all you again about draw and its functions.

    and "Spreadsheets in the Math   Class" and email me your reactions to these article.

    You need to do this (the assignment above) before class on Tuesday.

       Your PowerPoint Presentation must be ready to go at thebeginning of class today.

  B. Email Assignment:  Be creative and think "outside of the box." Come up with one (1) unique way you 
  might use a presentation   program in your class that is teacher produced, and one (1) unique way that is 
  student produced.  Email each of them to me.  Limit your description to 25 words or less.
