The most important objectives are in the affective domain and include:
1. Overcoming any fear of the technology and developing an "experimental" mind set that promotes trying new ideas and experimenting with new devices and software that will continue to emerge. That is, you are to be willing to continue to learn and grow as the technology changes.
2. Develop the belief that the technology can play an important and central role in your classroom with students as both a medium of instruction and as a tool by students.
3. Develop the belief that the technology is a useful
tool to assist in other teacher functions.
Thus, the cognitive objectives for the course include:
1. Planning instruction that incorporates technology in appropriate ways (i.e., utilization)
2. Locating educational resources from a variety of sources
3. Evaluating resources for their potential for achieving classroom objectives (i.e., selection)
4. Applying simple visual design skills to producing projected and non projected graphics
5. Applying a generic instructional design process to planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction
6. Basic competency in operating a computer
7. Basic skill in using word processing, data base, and spreadsheet application
8. Basic skill in using a computer graphics application
9. Basic skill in "electronic" presentation application
10. Basic skill in using electronic mail
11. Basic skill in accessing WWW and related resources
12. Basic skill in developing Home Pages
13. Knowledge of basic media services in Georgia schools
